Seven WAGs who are also incredibly talented – from twerking queen to karate champion

WAGs have a bad rep for being all good looks and no substance – but these lot make a mockery of that stigma.

There’s plenty of wives and girlfriends of elite-level footballers who rival their other halves in the talent department, including champions in other sports and famous faces known around the world.

They’ve made a name for themselves in their own right and stolen the spotlight from their beaus. On that note, Daily Star Sport is taking a look at seven of them.

Anna Lewandowska

Robert Lewandowski daren’t get on the wrong side of his wife Anna, who is a professional karate expert. She won three World Championships and six European Championships during her active career.

After marrying the Barcelona striker in 2013, Anna began working as a nutritionist. But she still lends her expertise to up-and-coming fighters, and also boasts two Master’s degrees.

And she’s in charge of Lewandowski’s diet, helping him to become one of the best, if not the best, strikers in the world.

Speaking to German outlet Bild, Anna explained: “The most important thing is training and nutrition.

“We refrain from lactose and wheat flour. It’s about quality food. Pancakes, brownies, vegetable spaghetti, porridge or millet. We also like to eat high-quality fish.”

Lisa Muller

Lewandowski’s former Bayern Munich team-mate Thomas Muller also has an equally sporty wife. Lisa is a champion dressage rider in their native Germany.

According to former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, she was the reason he didn’t join the Red Devils when they tabled an £84million bid for him.

“In 2015 it would have been possible if his wife had been a little more open to a transfer abroad,” said Van Gaal.

“At least that was the reason Thomas gave my assistant Marcel Bout, who had had all the conversations with him, why the transfer had been rejected.”

Edurne Garcia

Spanish singer Edurne had already rose to fame thanks to her voice before meeting and marrying United’s No. 1 David de Gea.

She went on to represent their nation in the 2015 edition of Eurovision – but finished a disappointing 21st out of 25.

That left De Gea fuming on Twitter as he wrote: “You are my number one above any votes. And I thought that at Eurovision music was more important than nationality.”

Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock

Little Mix pair Perrie and Leigh-Anne have both found themselves footy partners after taking over the music world with Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirlwall.

The former is engaged to Liverpool midfielder Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, who she began dating in 2016. They welcomed baby son Axel in August 2021.

And the latter met former Burnley and Watford striker Andre Gray in the same year. The pair, who have twins together, now live in Greece where Gray plays for Aris.

Muri Lopez Benitez

Lisandro Martinez’s stunning girlfriend Muri recently wowed her social media followers with a jaw-dropping snap of her carnival outfit.

It barely covered her flawless figure which she maintains as she’s a professional dancer in Argentina, where her and Martinez first met 11 years ago when they were both aged 14.

While the centre-back puts his feet in harm’s way for club and country, Muri uses hers to strut her stuff.

Claudia Redheaded

Arsenal’s season just keeps getting better, as they recently welcomed the arrival of not only defender Jakub Kiwior, but also his Twerk Queen WAG.

Known online as Claudia Redheaded, the dancer was crowned winner of the Germany Twerk Competition in 2017 and was a semi-finalist in the European Championships the following year.

She now hosts the event in their home country of Poland and teaches her students how to shake their booty, with her social media filled with eye-catching videos to say the least.
