Brit cop, 21, suspended for ‘fling with top officer’ quizzed over ‘drugs boss affair’

A junior police officer who was suspended from duty due to an alleged affair with a married senior officer is also being investigated over claims that she was romantically involved with the leader of a drugs gang.

West Yorkshire Police Constable Caitlin Howarth was suspended from duty in November 2021 following allegations that she was conducting an affair with a senior officer, Chief Superintendent Daniel Greenwood.

It has now emerged that PC Howarth, who was a 21-year-old probationary officer at the time of her suspension, was being under investigation by anti-corruption police officers over her links with a crime lord who is currently in jail after being found guilty of supplying a Class A drug.

Chief Supt Greenwood was described as ‘a family man’

It was this inquiry that exposed text messages sent between her and 20-year veteran Chief Supt Greenwood, reports The Sun.

PC Howarth, who is from Bingley, in West Yorkshire, is something of a social media celebrity, with over 10,000 people following her on Instagram for regular updates on her racy outfits.

Chief Supt Greenwood, 38, has also been suspended while the alleged affair is under investigation.

The officer temporarily replacing him sent an email outlining the scope of the investigation to all officers and staff after news of the suspensions “went round like wildfire among officers in Bradford and Leeds,” a source told the Daily Mail.

Colleagues of Chief Supt Greenwood were said to be “shocked” by suggestions that a senior officer who is seen as a “family man’ could be having an affair.

West Yorkshire’s Chief Constable John Robins is expected to have the final say on whether or not any action is taken against the two suspended officers.
