ITV commentator apologises for cheeky chant from West Ham fans in Derby FA Cup clash

ITV commentator Seb Hutchinson was forced to apologise for West Ham supporters’ cheeky chant during their FA Cup clash with Derby County.

The Hammers travelled to face League One side Derby in the final match of the fourth round, knowing the winner would progress to face Manchester United at Old Trafford. It took them less than 10 minutes to break the deadlock at Pride Park.

Winger Jarrod Bowen tucked home from Thomas Soucek’s header to send the away end into bedlam. Soon after the travelling supporters broke into a chant of “how s*** must you be, we’re winning away”.

ITV’s microphones picked up the swear word so Hutchinson issued an apology to the viewers watching on at home who may have been offended.

Roughly 5,000 West Ham fans had travelled to Derbyshire and they were in fine voice throughout. They were also heard chanting “one nil and your badge is s***” and “your ground’s too big for you” towards the home support.

The Derby fans gave as good as they got, though. After Michail Antonio put the Hammers two to the good after half-time, they hit back with “2-0 up and you still don’t sing”.

They also taunted their opponents with “you’re going down”. David Moyes’ side are hanging precariously above the relegation zone in the Prem, with just a point separating them and the bottom three.

Derby, meanwhile, are pushing for an instant return to the Championship following their relegation last season. They’re currently fourth in the League One play-off places.
