Ryan Reynolds’ ‘next level’ Wrexham transfer announcement has fans in stitches

Wrexham duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had fans in stitches with their Deadline Day transfer announcement.

The Hollywood actors, who own the National League side, took to Twitter to announce the club’s signing of defender Eoghan O’Connell from Charlton Athletic. But they did so in the hilarious manner Wrexham fans have come to expect in recent years – by creating a short comedic skit.

In the clip, ‘Deadpool’ actor Reynolds mispronounces the Irishman’s name, only to be corrected by his ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ friend.

A struggling Reynolds can be heard saying “Uwan” and “Ogan” among other incorrect names, before McElhenney says: “Why is it so hard for you to pronounce Irish names? Irish names are not that difficult – McElhenney.”

Yet the Green Lantern actor still appears to have no luck, ending it by saying “Urgan”. And the skit left fans in heaps of laughter as they applauded the creativity of the player reveal.

One Twitter user responded by writing: “This is my favourite ever deadline day announcement, and I don’t even support Wrexham.”

Another tweeted: “All transfers should be announced like this!” and a third added: “Next level transfer reveals. Love it.”

A fourth fan commented: “You are so damn funny,” while others replied with laughing face emojis and “Love these two.”

O’Connell, 27, came through the Celtic academy to make seven appearances for the Scottish giants. He left in 2017, playing for the likes of Bury and Rochdale as a centre-back before spending a season at Charlton.
