Harry and Meghan ‘haven’t made progress’ with royal reconciliation after Spare ‘hope’

The release of Prince Harry’s new book Spare hasn’t helped his efforts to reconcile with his estranged family, a source has claimed.

In his book, the Duke of Sussex shared with the world his emotional scars from growing up as a royal, allegedly in a bid to encourage greater communication between the two parties.

But their rift remains unchanged, it is claimed, and hopes of reconciliation between the two parties have – so far – enjoyed little progress.

Speaking to US Weekly, an unnamed insider said: “No apology to Meghan [Markle] has been made by the Palace, which frustrates Harry. Nor has he received a personal apology.”

Speaking about the hoped impact of Spare, released on January 10, they continued: “[Harry] was hoping his family, especially Prince William, would lay their cards on the table and have an open conversation with him, but they haven’t made progress”.

The book’s tactic was somewhat high-risk, laying bare issues that had grown between him and both his brother William and father King Charles.

The book included details of all manner of rows and standoffs between the two parties and gave the public an insight into the alleged way the Windsor house has operated over recent years.

Among the claims were some about how his wife, Meghan Markle, 41, was treated by his family.

A second insider told US Weekly: “At this point, the royals can only move forward and come to some form of truce with Harry if everyone sits down and talks through their issues privately.

“Despite everything that’s happened, Harry does want his family in his life.”

Harry himself has been outspoken about his desire to reconcile and become “a family”.

The book has caused quite a stir

Speaking in his equally controversial ITV interview shortly ahead of the release of Spare Harry said: “I sit here now in front of you asking for a family.

“Not an institution. I want a family.

“And I understand how that might be hard for them to be able to separate the two, but to me everything that I’ve witnessed and experienced over the years, there has to be a separation.”
