Terminally ill bloke who mooned speed camera for bucket list ticks off more adventures

A terminally ill man who was arrested for flashing a speed camera as part of a bucket list has carried on ticking off the other things he wants to do before he dies.

Darrell Meekcom, 55, who suffers from multiple system atrophy (MSA), dropped his pants in front of the traffic camera in Kidderminster, Worcs., exposing his rear end while his wife popped into Tesco Express.

But the dad-of-two found himself in hot water after he was piled on by police and arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and was later charged with obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty.

Darrell was eventually cleared of the charge after he was hauled before Redditch Magistrates Court and decided to power on with his bucket list.

He said: “When you are terminally ill, you just want to say f*** it and start to say yes to everything. So I want to experience as much as I can.”

Darrell, who also has Parkinson’s Disease and heart and kidney problems, first created the bucket list just days after finding out he was terminally ill in October 2021, while sitting in bed with Sarah.

Darrell’s adventures took him to Disneyland Paris on the Eurostar with his family last October, and just a month later he and his wife Sarah, 37, went to Twickenham Stadium in London to watch England v South Africa in the Autumn Internationals.

The family have just now returned from a two-week cruise around the Canary Islands, taking in Maderic, Tenerife, Grand Canaria, Lanzarote, Cadez, and Lisbon.

“After the relief of the court case we went to Disneyland Paris,” he recalled.

“Me and the kids just wanted to see as much as possible and go on as many rides as we could.

“We were front of the queue for every ride and my eldest daughter even got the experience her first upside down ride. It was a very special moment and one I won’t forget.

He added: “Going on a cruise is something I have always wanted to do with my family. We had a lot of fun. My favourite place we visited was Lisbon as I had never been before.

“Twickenham was a great day out also. Despite South Africa absolutely hammering us which was disappointing, it was a fantastic day out.”

While Darrell hasn’t completed his bucket list, he has made plans to carry on exploring the world and enjoying luxurious experiences while he still has time.

Darrell has more exciting plans for the rest of the year

He and Sarah have booked to go to the Ritz in London for afternoon tea in March and also have plans for a spa day and a holiday to Lanzarote.

Other items on the list include riding a green Jaguar around a racetrack and hiring a motorhome for a family holiday around England and Wales.

And he hopes future plans won’t land him in trouble with the law, unlike his brush with police.

Darrell’s future plans aren’t quite as risqué as mooning a speed camera

Former nurse Darrell said: “Pulling a moonie to a speed camera was a jokey thing I wanted to do but look where that got me.

“One of the other items on my bucket list was to do a streak at the Worcester Warriors ground but this has unfortunately been closed down.

“I’m not saying I would have actually done it, but it was an idea. Maybe after what happened last time it might not have been a good idea.

“The rest of the items are a bit more safe and I’m looking forward to ticking those off too.”
