‘I became bodybuilder at 69 – I was scared but now love rocking glitzy bikinis’

A ripped woman is living proof that age is just a number.

Renee Landers was in her late 60s when she started competing in bodybuilding competitions.

She felt a bit nervous about strutting her stuff at first, but soon found her confidence.

Renee told YouTube fans: “I had to get over the fear and the nerves and the insecurity about being the oldest person in the building.”

The Texas lass overcame these insecurities to enter her first fitness contest in 2021.

And despite being two decades older than any other competitor, she finished up in sixth place.

Renee was intimidated about competing – but now feels completely at ease in a bikini

The 70-year-old now feels like she’s in the best shape of her life.

She’s super confident in her glitzy bikinis – and is really enjoying herself too.

She told Facebook fans: “I have a wonderful trainer who kept encouraging me to compete, but I was too scared.

“It took several years to get the courage to put on a sparkly bikini and get on a stage in front of a bunch of strangers… but, after I did that first show, I knew I had found my people.

“I have not looked back, and have been having the time of my life.”

The glam bodybuilder is now training for more competitions

So what’s next for Renee?

The gym bunny is training for the Arnold Classic, which will take place next month in Colombus, Ohio.

She told her 12,000 Instagram followers: “I can’t wait.

“I am so grateful and honoured for this opportunity to represent women of a certain age at this prestigious show.

“Who gets to do this at 70 years old? MEEEEEEE!”
