Crawley Town sign brother of Sidemen star after trial – as fans ask ‘what is going on’

Crawley Town supporters have been left split following the signing of Jed Brown – the brother of Sidemen star Tobi Brown.

Tobi, Jed and their brother Manny joined the League Two outfit on trial back in November with Jed training with the side right up until the news of his contract signing.

With the Sidemen group, which includes KSI, boasting more than 138 million combined followers there have been plenty of eyes on the move into football with many reacting to the news.

With KSI writing: “Congrats Jed.” A rival fan added: “What is going on.”

The reaction from Crawley fans has been a mixed one, with Brown currently not involved in first-team plans and set to join their B-Team set up going forward.

A fan wrote: “Absolute joke. Just when I think things can’t get more ridiculous.”

Another hit back: “Guys it’s our B team chill out. Have you ever seen him play? No. Hard to support this team with the amount of fickle fans we have.”

Tobi and Manny were also on trial at Crawley alongside brother Jed

A short statement said: “Crawley Town Football Club is delighted to announce that Jedidiah Brown has signed for the Red Devils on a year deal.

“Jed has joined on a developmental contract that will see him join the club’s B team.

“Jed began trialling with the club alongside his two brothers, Tobi and Manny, in November 2022. Jed has been training with the club since and has today officially joined the club, having previously been at Fisher FC in London.”

With co-chairman Preston Johnson saying: “Jed is a young player who has acquitted himself well during previous training sessions with the team, and we’re happy to have him continue his development as a member of our B team.

“While he may not currently be part of our first-team plans, we welcome Jed to the club and look forward to his continued growth as he trains alongside his new teammates.”

The signing comes three years after TOWIE star Mark Wright joined Crawley on a short-term deal, coming on as a substitute in their FA Cup win over Premier League Leeds.

Tobi Brown and Manny Brown are both successful YouTubers

Jed wrote: “All glory to God for this one, because He is faithful!

“Still doesn’t feel real to be writing this but blessed to have signed my first contract with @officialcrawleytownfc

“Words can’t describe, but I’m so grateful and just can’t wait to get started properly. It’s been a long road to get here, but the real hard work starts now.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me so far – now we set the bar higher.”
