Millwall hooligans ‘attack pub Sunderland fans are in’ – but end up running off

Millwall hooligans attacked a pub of Sunderland supporters before running away from the brawl.

Violent scenes erupted outside a London Bridge pub on Saturday just after 1pm. Video footage posted on social media showed a massive street brawl breaking out before Millwall’s Championship clash with the Black Cats.

In the shocking clip, a large group of fans can be seen descending on the Mudlark pub on Montague Close. The yobs were claimed to be initially walking down the street before being heckled by a man, who appeared from the pub wearing a red-and-white scarf.

The group of hooded thugs, who were said to be singing Millwall football chants, were claimed by witnesses to have turned back from a tunnel and returned to the boozer.

Footage shows them surrounding the pub and trying to get in to confront the man. Things escalated when they began to throw bottles and attempted to kick down the door of the pub.

They were then met with a group of men who flooded out of the Mudlark, while the majority of the fans who were outside fled the scene.

The few that remained were seen exchanging blows and grappling in broad daylight. At one point, a man in the video can be seen picking up a metal pole and chasing the Millwall supporters.

He waves it around threateningly before another man relieves him of his makeshift weapon. Meanwhile, various different scraps can be seen occurring between the two groups.

A few more men can be seen throwing punches at the end of the footage as one trips over. He is then set upon by a few thugs who launch kicks and punches at him.

Police said that one man was hospitalised as a result of the brawl, while another was arrested on “suspicion of violent disorder” and remained in custody at a south London police station.
