Raging Max Allegri almost explodes in almighty touchline tantrum thanks to Angel Di Maria

A raging Massimiliano Allegri has been spotted almost exploding in an almighty touchline tantrum all thanks to Angel Di Maria.

The Juventus manager let his passion for the club get the better of him during last Thursday’s 1-0 home win over Lazio in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. Juventus were minutes away from a place in the last four when substitute Di Maria lost possession in the final third after taking too long to pick a pass.

Allegri was left furious by Di Maria giving the ball away and was seen throwing his hands in the air as he let out a wild shout in his technical area.

The 55-year-old continued to wave his arms around as he stormed off down the tunnel at the Allianz Stadium. Luckily for Di Maria, the Old Lady were able to hold on to their lead and advance thanks to Gleison Bremer’s first half goal.

Fans were left in stitches on social media by Allegri’s touchline antics, with one tweeting: “A new meme was born.” Another added: “This meme will remain for eternity.”

Meanwhile, a third supporter also reacted by commenting: “My new all-time fav video. Massimiliano Allegri is the gift that keeps on giving.”

Di Maria, who joined Juve on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, had only been introduced off the bench for the final 12 minutes. His brief cameo has taken his record for the season to three goals and five assists in 16 appearances.

Allegri is into his second spell as Juventus boss after returning to Turin in the summer of 2021. After a fourth placed finish last season, his side are enduring a poor campaign this time around.

A 15-point penalty for capital gains violations has left the club 13th in Serie A, losing their last league match at home to Monza. In Europe, Juventus finished third in their Champions League group and will face Nantes in the Europa League later this month.

Di Maria will hope to avoid enraging Allegri again as Juventus return to league action away to Salernitana on Tuesday. As for their reward for beating Lazio, the Bianconeri meet Inter Milan in a two-legged semi-final in April.
