Frenkie de Jong’s gorgeous WAG takes cheeky swipe at Man Utd over failed transfer

Frenkie de Jong’s partner Mikky Kiemeney has trolled Manchester United fans after being asked the same age old question about a potential transfer.

The Barcelona midfielder was pursued by the Red Devils for the duration of last summer. But De Jong refused to leave the Catalan club despite the best efforts of United manager Erik ten Hag to be reunited with his former Ajax star.

United are still understood to be keen on bringing the 25-year-old to Old Trafford. And they will have a chance to size up his qualities in person when they take on Barcelona in their Europa League knock-out play-off tie this month.

Their first fixture at the Nou Camp will be played on February 16, before De Jong takes to Old Trafford a week later.

And on Monday, Kiemeney addressed the possibility of a long-awaited transfer by poking fun at desperate fans. While hosting a question-and-answer session on Instagram, one United fan asked: “When’s Frenkie coming to Manchester?”

The stunning Dutch woman trolled Man Utd in a Q&A

Mikky wittily replied with a screenshot of United’s fixture list which included United’s home clash with Barcelona on February 23, while hilariously adding: “23-2 I guess,” along with a love heart and laughing face.

United hoped in the summer to secure the signing of De Jong after reportedly agreeing a fee with Barcelona in the region of £70million. With the La Liga club in serious debt and needing to sell off key players to balance the books, both sides were eager to complete a deal.

The couple were not fans of a move to Manchester

But a move to United did not appeal to the Dutchman, who was determined to fight for his Barcelona career. De Jong’s fiancé Mikky was also believed to have played a role in his decision to stay put, with the WAG ‘very happy’ in Barcelona after quickly adapting to the city.

It was claimed that she could not see herself leaving, with the engaged couple having made many friends and deemed Manchester a less desirable city to live. The Red Devils ended up instead signing 30-year-old Casemiro from Real Madrid.
