Weather maps show snow coming to all corners of UK this month in ‘4cm per hour’ flurries

Widespread snow looks set to return to England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in just a matter of days.

The UK has already seen Arctic flurries this year, with the mercury dropping as low as a bone-chilling -10C in January and six inches of the white stuff falling in some parts.

Moreover, long-range forecasters have warned that two separate polar blasts may bring snow to our shores next month – March – as well.

Advanced weather modelling maps from WX Charts, tracking what is to occur in the medium term, now show significant downpours of snow across two days later this month – which could make it three consecutive snow months to kick-off the year for Brits.

WX Charts’ prediction for 6am on February 19

The maps show that an area of low pressure will bring snow and rain in from the north-west on the morning of Sunday, February 19.

Northern Ireland looks to be first in line, with purple indicating snow engulfing the whole country at around 6am. There also looks to be some isolated snowfall in northern parts of Scotland, Wales and England’s south-west at this time.

By noon, the snow (in purple) would have moved eastwards across Britain

As the day progresses, WX Charts predict the snow will move eastward across Britain.

By noon, maps show significant flurries stretching from Yorkshire in England to Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Areas of lighter purple inside darker purple indicate snow falling at a rate of around 4cm per hour there.

Meanwhile further south, lighter flurries appear over southern parts of Wales, England’s south-west and parts of the West Midlands.

Snow will return to the Scottish Highlands by noon on Monday (February 20)

By 6pm, the stormy weather appears to have mostly moved off into the North Sea. Areas between Manchester and Birmingham will continue to be bombarded, with flurries there surpassing a rate of 2cm per hour.

There may also be some snow in the north-east on the Sunday evening.

Monday (February 20) will see a return of some stormy conditions, according to WX Charts.

They show that rain will sweep eastward across most of the country, with snow making a return to the Scottish Highlands by noon.

However, it won’t be as sustained as Sunday’s storm and clearer skies will return on Tuesday (February 21).
