Nathan Aspinall hits ‘ghost nine darter’ as fans laud him for ‘outrageous’ performance

Fans couldn’t get enough of Nathan Aspinall’s “outrageous” performance against Peter Wright after he hit a phantom nine darter to win the match.

The 31-year-old booked his place in the final with a stunning 6-3 victory over Snakebite that could have very easily been more emphatic had The Asp had a little more luck.

Case in point; his fabulous check out in the final leg, which saw him come to within millimetres of a perfect finish after a treble 20-bound throw bounced-out after rattling against his first two darts.

“Fantastic nine darter. Well sort of. Thoroughly deserved to be one,” one fan tweeted.

“Outrageous performance from the Asp. Ghost nine darter summed it up,” commented another. A third said: “I’m counting that as a nine darter, I hope Aspinall does too.”

Another added: “It was 100% a nine in my book.”

Agony as Aspinall’s dart bounces out to deny him a nine dart finish

In the final against Gerwyn Price, Aspinall got some grief from the crowd after altering his standing position having hit two treble 20s, but laughed it off and even shared a joke with opponent about it.

Price eventually triumphed, winning the final 6-3, but take nothing away from Aspinall’s emphatic performances throughout the night.
