Chelsea complete £6m signing of teenage star born day after Theo Walcott joined Arsenal
Chelsea new boy Jimmy-Jay Morgan is so young he was born the day after one-time boy wonder Theo Walcott joined Arsenal.
Morgan, who is just 16, has joined the Blues from Southampton on a deal reportedly worth around £6million. The youngster was born on January 21 2006, just 24 hours before Walcott completed his big move to the Emirates.
While Walcott arguably failed to fulfil his potential – both for club and country – Morgan will be hoping he can live up to his lofty reputation.

The teenager joins Chelsea’s academy, although he has already had plenty of first-team exposure. Morgan trained frequently with Southampton during his time on the south coast and was named on the bench for several cup games.
While he did not make a senior appearance for the Saints, the experience should hold him in good stead going forward.

Morgan has been in excellent form for Southampton’s youth team this season, scoring six goals and contributing five assists in 13 games across different competitions.
He is also a regular with the England U17s and had a big impact in the group stages of the European U17 Championship qualifiers.
Chelsea fans have welcomed the youngster to the club with open arms as they continue to plan for the future following the mega January signings of Enzo Fernandez, Noni Madeuke and Mykhailo Mudryk, among others.
The club’s head of youth development Jim Fraser commented on Morgan’s arrival at Stamford Bridge. He said: “In signing Jimmy-Jay we have added a player with good potential to our Academy squads.
“His ability marks him out as an exciting striker and we are delighted he has chosen Chelsea for this next, important stage of his development.”
Morgan was a part of Chelsea’s academy at a younger age and will now go into their U18s system, as well as their development squad.
