Neighbours of lottery winning family ‘shocked’ as they’re given mega-mansion permission
A lottery winning family who hoped to extend their home into that of a mansion have shocked their neighbours after being given approval.
Lisa Charters, 33, and husband Craig, 34, are set to turn their bungalow into a mega-mansion after the 33-year-old’s parents won a hefty £33million on the lottery.
Lisa and Craig were subsequently given the green light to build up a flash pad.

But residents of the Morningside, Edinburgh area are less than pleased and have been left “disappointed” at the decision to approve the plans.
One resident has since claimed that the reasons given for the planning approval “don’t stack up”, with the lottery-winning couple coming under fire.

Over 60 letters of complaint were lodged after Lisa and Craig bagged themselves a 1950s hilltop bungalow for £200,000 over the asking price of £670,000.
An unnamed resident speaking to The Sun said: “We’re just disappointed with the height and that it’s gone through. There’s quite a lot of people that aren’t happy about it.
“Some people have issues with the look of it, sticking out is unusual. The height of it will have an impact on our gardens in the summer. We’re disappointed that given the scale of objection the sort of comments are like ‘this is great’.
“They’ve justified it on public transport and things that just don’t stack up. These guys aren’t going to take buses. We’ve all been quite shocked by it.”

Another resident confirmed these woes, adding: “Nobody’s very pleased. But we must think of the buses.”
Edinburgh Council has approved the plans despite the “number of concerns”, with Councillor Euan Hyslop defending the “fitting addition”.
Councillor Hyslop siad: “I can understand why there have been a number of concerns raised by neighbouring residents. But I think it is a fitting addition. It is modern, uncompromisingly modern, which is a good way of putting it.
“I can’t see it having a massive impact on amenity. It is a welcome application and I will be supporting it.”
Architect Richard Murphy has said he is “delighted” that the committee voting on the plans passed it “unanimously”.
