Eight notorious sex scandals in sport as married rugby ace filmed cheating in public
The latest sporting sex scandal has seen rugby league star Joe Westerman caught cheating on his wife in an alleyway.
Westerman, 33, was videoed performing a sex act on an unidentified woman in a clip which went viral on social media. He’s subsequently been fined by club Castleford Tigers, who have ordered him to perform community service to educate young people on the effects of alcohol.
The back rower admitted he “needs to work on his decision-making” around booze as he issued an apology, while his wife Lauren has insisted it’s not her in the video.

She took to Twitter to post: “Can I make this VERY clear that this is NOT me!!!!!! And we have three children one of whom is almost 15 and she doesn’t need to see things like this all over social media!”
Westerman’s controversy is the latest in a long line of sex scandals in sport, so Daily Star Sport is taking a look at some of the best, or rather the worst, from over the years.

John Terry and Wayne Bridge
There’s only one place to start and that’s with former Chelsea and England team-mates John Terry and Wayne Bridge. The pair went from having a perfect chemistry link on FIFA to being sworn enemies.
Terry was alleged to have had an affair with Bridge’s then-girlfriend, underwear model Vanessa Perroncel, who strenuously denied the claims.
Bridge refused to shake Terry’s hand when returning to Stamford Bridge with Manchester City, though, and quit the Three Lions shortly after.

Tiger Woods’ infidelities
If Tiger Woods had been a bad boy throughout his career then his sex scandal wouldn’t have been anywhere near as shocking, but the golf legend was a model pro who had broken down barriers in the sport.
So it rocked the sporting world when it emerged in December 2009 that he’d cheated on ex-wife Elin Nordegren with multiple women.
He subsequently entered rehab at a Mississippi treatment centre for a sex addiction while he and Nordegren divorced the following year.

Minnesota Vikings boat party
Back in October 2005, as many as seventeen members of the Minnesota Vikings were caught having an alleged sex party across two boats on Lake Minnetonka.
There were said to be around 100 prostitutes on board while sex acts were allegedly performed in front of crew members.
Four players – Daunte Culpepper, Bryant McKinnie, Fred Smoot and Moe Williams – were later charged with indecent conduct, disorderly conduct and lewd or lascivious conduct.

Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson’s wife swap

While team-mates need to have a good bond, former New York Yankees stars Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson were perhaps a little too close off the pitch.
Although they were both happily married with two kids each, the pair decided to swap wives in 1973 – a deal which worked out much better for Peterson.
Kekich split with Marilyn Peterson after just a matter of months. But Peterson remains happily married with Susanne Kekich to this day.
Ryan Giggs’ affair with brother’s wife
It’s bad enough cheating on your missus, but doing so with your brother’s wife was taking the biscuit by Ryan Giggs.
It hit the headlines in 2011 that the Manchester United legend had been romantically engaged with Rhodri Giggs’ other half Natasha.
And not only that, it had been going on for eight, yes eight, years, with Natasha even admitting to aborting Ryan’s baby weeks before she married Rhodri.
Wayne Rooney paying for prostitutes

It’s fair to say the 2000s United squad under Sir Alex Ferguson wasn’t the best behaved bunch of lads, with Wayne Rooney another who played away – although at least opted for prostitutes instead of close family members.
Rooney publicly apologised to wife Coleen after CCTV caught him entering a backstreet brothel. He said: “Foolish as it now seems, I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes.
“It was at a time when I was very young and immature and before I had settled down with Coleen. I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid.”
Ronaldo and the transvestites

Fortunately for the Red Devils this isn’t a hat-trick of entrants on the list. It was the Brazilian Ronaldo, not Cristiano Ronaldo, embroiled in a transvestites controversy in 2008.
He’d returned home while recovering from an injury which ruled him out of action for AC Milan, but was doing anything but resting and recovering when he took three women back to his hotel.
Or so he thought. After discovering they were in fact transvestites, Ronaldo offered them money to leave – but the police got involved and it became major news after they tried to extort him for more.
Eugene Robinson’s Super Bowl prostitute

You couldn’t write the antics which went on the day before Super Bowl XXXIII in 1999. Atlanta Falcons cornerback Eugene Robinson had been named winner of the Bart Starr Award.
That prize is given to the NFL player who best exemplifies outstanding character and leadership on and off the pitch. But later that night he went to pick up a prostitute who turned out to be an undercover cop.
Robinson still played in the Super Bowl – but he had a stinker. He gave up an 80-yard touchdown reception in the showdown with the Denver Broncos as the Falcons were defeated 34-19 in what, unsurprisingly, was his last game for them.
