Tom Brady’s imminent arrival at FOX may see fellow broadcaster suffer a 70% pay cut
Tom Brady’s imminent arrival in the booth for FOX’s NFL coverage could see former tight end turned broadcaster Greg Olsen receive a whopping $7million (£5.7million) pay cut.
Brady, who retired “for good” earlier this month after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had their season ended by the Dallas Cowboys, is set to link up with FOX in 2024 after inking a whopping 10-year $375m deal back in 2022.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner looks set to be parachuted in to the number one broadcast colour analyst seat alongside announcer Kevin Burkhardt in place of Olsen, despite having zero experience covering an NFL game.

And it looks as though Brady’s arrival in the booth could have a significant impact upon Olsen’s pay packet, which could drop from $10m to $3m.
A report from the New York Post reveals that by dropping down to FOX’s number two broadcast team, Olsen’s salary would decrease by a whopping 70%.

Given Olsen, a former NFL All-Pro tight end, is coming off the back of an excellent debut season in the number one chair alongside Burkhardt, his replacement by Brady in 2024 seems almost unfair.
Olsen and Burkhardt were promoted at the start of the NFL season when Joe Buck and Troy Aikman opted to join ESPN’s Monday Night Football coverage for the 2022 campaign.
And the duo’s inaugural season as FOX’s lead commentary pair saw them cap off the season by calling Super Bowl 57, which was won by the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 37-year-old has received plaudits this season for his detailed analysis which has helped fans understand the minuet nuances of the NFL on the field.
However, should Brady replace Olsen, which looks to be a certainty at this point, the former NFL tight end also reportedly has an opt-out clause in his contract in the event he is bumped down a broadcasting spot.
Olsen’s contact with FOX runs until the end of the 2026 NFL season, but it seems unlikely he will not be lacking when it comes to potential broadcasting suitors.
