Todd Boehly ‘holds Neymar talks with PSG’ as never-ending Chelsea spree takes new twist

Chelsea are eyeing a sensational summer swoop for Neymar and have reportedly opened talks with PSG over a move for the superstar forward.

According to French outlet La Parisien, Todd Boehly met with PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi in Paris on Tuesday to discuss a deal for the 31-year-old, who has been linked with a move from the Parc des Princes for some time.

Boehly appears to be keen on making a splash by nabbing himself one of the biggest names in football, despite having already spent over £500m on players since taking the club over eight months ago.

Chelsea tried to sign Neymar last summer before PSG blocked his departure, but it’s thought the Ligue 1 club are now more open to a sale due to the Brazilian’s behind-the-scenes issues with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and sporting director Luis Campos.

Should Neymar move to Stamford Bridge he would become Boehly’s ninth attacking signing, following Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Datro Fofana, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku – who will join in the summer – through the door.

Space in the squad will likely be made via the expected departures of Aubameyang, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech – who would’ve become Neymar’s team-mate in January had it not been for a last-minute technological snafu.

Neymar has been in solid form for PSG this season, netting 17 goals in 28 games while re-establishing his evergreen partnership with Lionel Messi up front, but the team’s continued failings in the Champions League have left both club and player wanting.

After losing to Bayern Munich in the opening leg of the round of 16 tie on Tuesday night, PSG’s habit of falling at the first major hurdle looks set to continue, and if they fail to turn things around in Germany next month Neymar just might fancy trying his luck elsewhere.
