Will Ferrell makes Championship score prediction – and he couldn’t have been more wrong

Will Ferrell is funny – I reckon most of us can agree on that.

He’s so funny in fact that he can make people laugh without trying. Case in point: the way he predicted QPR to spank Sunderland so hard that the Black Cats would cry “tears of sorrow” … spoiler alert – they didn’t.

Sunderland’s comprehensive 3-0 win saw them climb to fifth in the Championship and left Hollywood star Ferrell, who was in attendance at Loftus Road, looking about as silly as Ron Burgundy at a Metallica gig.

Prior to the game, QPR published a clip of Ferrell’s disastrous pre-match prediction on Twitter, with the caption: “What could possibly go wrong?” Well, everything, it turns out.

“Sunderland, the tears of sorrow you’re going to experience tonight, dripping down your face, drowning you in sorrow,” Ferrell said.

“I can only imagine.”

If Will Ferrell played a football manager in a movie, who would it be? Let us know in the comments section below.

Ferrell didn’t look best pleased

Sunderland hit back after the three points were sealed, posting a photo of Ferrell with his hands on his head during the match.

The American has been on something of a nationwide football tour this past week after being spotted at Anfield at the Merseyside derby, as well as at the Etihad stadium and the Racecourse Ground – home of Hollywood actor-owned Wrexham.

Ferrell even declared himself Manchester City’s new boss after taking in a seat in the dugout ahead of the Citizen’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa, joking that he was going to take the club “backwards”.

He also gave Roy Keane a hug after bumping into him on camera ahead of Manchester United’s tie with Leeds on Sunday.
