Cesar Azpilicueta stretchered off after being kicked in the head during horror injury

Cesar Azpilicueta was stretchered off wearing an oxygen mask during Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Southampton after collapsing to the ground having been kicked in the head.

Azpilicueta collapsed to the Stamford Bridge turf after Sekou Mara missed the ball in at attempt at an overhead kick and kicked the Spain international in the head with some force.

The Chelsea man received medical treatment on the pitch for over 10 minutes before being carried off on a stretcher with fans clapping to offer their support.

Former England midfielder Fara Williams said on Final Score: “He’s been down a long time. When something like this happens you want the right precautions to take place.

“The medics are on there and the right thing to do is make sure the player is right before you remove him from the pitch. We can’t see clear pictures but it doesn’t look great.”
