And having to splurge on another polish seems like a luxury more than ever before at the moment due to the cost-of-living crisis.

However, this one savvy mum has saved the day with her nifty hack.

While most of us think that the nail polish remover is used for taking off colour from the nails, this trick does quite the opposite.

Clare Hoops,48, took to TikTok to share the easy and cost efficient trick that has now racked up thousands of views from eager beauty fans.

“Did you know you can keep your nail varnish for a bit longer with this hack?” the mum asked.

She then explained how it all works to her 64,000 followers.

“If you’ve got a nail varnish that is a little bit gloopy, just a little bit sticky, you take a tiny but of nail varnish remover,” she informed in the viral clip.

All you have to do is pour a tiny bit of nail varnish remover into the polish, do up the lid tightly and give it a shake.

”It won’t be quite the same as when you bought it but it will definitely make it a little bit easier to manage,” Clare added.

”It means you won’t waste it – it won’t be that thick, gloopy. [You can] use it a little bit longer.”

And it looks like Clare isn’t the only one with nifty nail varnish hacks to hand.

This TikTok user suggested: ”Putting it in the fridge helps too!”

As another wrote: ”Adding clear nail polish helps!”
