BREAKING – A body has been found in search for missing Nicola Bulley, police confirm

Police have confirmed a body has been found in the search for missing mum Nicola Bulley after a “tip-off” from walkers near the river.

No formal identification has yet been given to the body, and police are unable to confirm the identity but are currently treating the death as “unexplained”.

Police received reports of a body in the water at 11.36am today and are now set to establish whether the body is that of the missing mum, who was last seen on January 27.

A police statement has since been released and confirmed that an underwater search team and specialist officers have sadly recovered a body.

Their statement read: “We were called today at 11:36am to reports of a body in the River Wyre, close to Rawcliffe Road.

“An underwater search team and specialist officers have subsequently attended the scene, entered the water and have sadly recovered a body.

“No formal identification has yet been carried out, so we are unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time.

“Procedures to identify the body are on-going. We are currently treating the death as unexplained.”

The statement confirmed Nicola’s family had been “informed of developments” and added that their “thoughts are with them at this most difficult of times.”

A nearby road leading to the River Wyre section had earlier been cordoned off by police following a tip-off from walkers.

Daily Star earlier reported that divers had rushed to the scene of the river tip-off, with drones and a police helicopter surveying the trees and undergrowth of the area.

A photographer at the scene said police presence had “happened so fast” and that they have “sealed all the roads off” after their “massive search” found an unidentified body.
