Alejandro Garnacho ‘agrees a new five-year deal at Manchester United’ after breakout season under Erik ten Hag – with just teenager’s image rights left to be sorted

  • Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly close to agreeing a new long-term deal
  • The Manchester United talent could sign a new five-year deal at the club
  • The only apparent area still to work out is regarding the player’s image rights

Alejandro Garnacho is edging nearer to signing a new long-term deal at Manchester United after a deal in principle was reportedly agreed between player and club.

Garnacho has been United’s rising star this season, transforming his pre-season status as a plucky youngster with an apparent attitude problem to United’s next superstar talent.

The Argentinian has got bums off seats in Old Trafford through his direct running, trickery, and goalscoring capabilities, talents United feel make him eligible for a new contract.

Negotiations have been underway for several months with Garnacho’s current contract expiring in 2024, however new terms appear close to being finalised as reported by ESPN.

Garnacho has apparently agreed to a five-year deal with the club and the final stumbling block before pen is put to paper is an issue regarding image rights for the player. However, that isn’t expected to be a concern.

Garnacho has apparently agreed to a deal in principle that will keep him at the club until 2028

The 18-year-old will benefit from a considerable pay-rise that will take him from an academy salary to a first-team player’s wage after emerging as a key figure in Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Garnacho has thrived under the spotlight and has appeared unfazed by the expectations surrounding him and early comparisons to some of the club’s greatest ever players.

Both parties involved in contract discussions are supposedly eager to complete the new deal as soon as possible to avoid any distractions cropping up amid a key time in the season with United still competing in four competitions.

The energetic winger has made 25 appearances and bagged three goals in all competitions for United’s senior team this season after his impact was quickly recognised.

Meanwhile, the quest for a new Manchester United owner is expected to ramp up after parties submitted their bids to purchase the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe – Britain’s richest man – has launched an effort to buy United from the owning Glazer family while there has also been a serious big-money move launched by investors in Qatar.
