Boy, eight, dies after being hit by motorbike that ploughed into pedestrians as he crossed road while walking to mosque with his family

An eight-year-old boy who was on the way to pray at a mosque with his family has been killed after being hit by a motorbike.
Named locally as Mustafa Mohammed Ahmed, it is understood that the young boy was crossing the road with his family to go to the Greenwich Islamic Centre when he was hit.
His father Mohammed Mow Ahmed is said to be in critical condition while his older brother Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed, 10, is also in hospital after the collision.
The driver of the motorbike has been hospitalised as well.

Mustafa Zachariah, a family friend, arrived at the scene roughly five minutes after the motorbike hit the family.
‘You don’t expect it. People said the bike was driving at high speed. He was a bubbly boy and everybody loved him,’ he told the Mirror.
Mr Zachariah was holding back tears as he described Mustafa’s love of football.
Mustafa’s father is a bus driver and the family, originally from Somalia, live in the Thamesmead area.
The head of governance at the mosque described to the Mirror how the young children went ‘two or three feet into the sky’ after they were hit by the bike which was travelling at extreme speed.
He also said the family were well known within the congregation.
