Aristocrat mum on run with rapist and their baby ‘could be anywhere’ as hunt expanded

Police have revealed that their hunt for a missing aristocrat who ran away with a known sex offender and their infant child has massively widened its scope.

The Met Police admitted today (February 21) that six weeks after Constance Marten, Mark Gordon and their new-born baby disappeared, the family could be “anywhere in the UK”.

It put out a fresh appeal to the public asking for any information about the fleeing family, who were last seen on January 8 in Newhaven, East Sussex, three days after they fled.

The Met said that the on-the-run trio could have moved a “considerable distance” since then.

Mark Gordon is a convicted sex offender

Lewis Basford, a detective superintendent with the force, said: “When they were last sighted on 8 January they were in the possession of a blue two-man tent.

“So please keep your eyes peeled, especially while you are out and about in waste ground or beauty spots, or while you’re walking the dog.

“We have a genuine concern for the health and wellbeing of the baby, Constance and Mark, and it is our duty to ensure that they are okay”.

Police previously said that Constance, who has links to the royal family, likely gave birth to a new-born child in the car that she and Mark, a convicted rapist, were seen abandoning on a Manchester motorway.

The family have been tracked travelling across the county in a short span of time

After they abandoned their car, they travelled across the country, being spotted in Liverpool, Essex, Harwich, Colchester and London in the span of just a few days.

Constance’s mum Virginie de Selliers begged the missing mum to come home in an open letter, writing: “I want to help you and my grandchild.

“You deserve the opportunity to build a new life, establish a stable family and enjoy the same freedoms that most of us have.

“Constance, I will do what I can to stand alongside you and my grandchild. You are not alone in this situation. We will support you in whatever way we can”.
