Micah Richards has ‘wow’ reaction to Kate Abdo dig but Jamie Carragher loves it

Micah Richards was left shocked by Kate Abdo’s latest dig over his appearance – comparing him to Family Matters character Steve Urkel to the delight of Jamie Carragher.

Steve Urkel was played by Jaleel White in the hugely popular television sitcom that ran from 1989 until 1997, where he became the epitome of a geek or nerd in America.

With Richards choosing to wear large glasses on CBS’ Champions League coverage on Tuesday evening, Abdo couldn’t wait to make the comparison on air.

She said: “Hello and welcome along to our Champions League studio, I’m Kate Abdo joined by Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Steve Urkel tonight.”

With the trio chuckling at the expense of Richards, who through his head back in disbelief, the former Manchester City man said: “Kate? Come on… WOW! This is every week now!”

The dig comes after she savaged his Champions League record when compared to his fellow pundits earlier in the season, leaving him dumbstruck.

Having introduced Henry and Carragher as Champions League winners, Abdo presented Richards as: “A man with five appearances in the Champions League.”

That jibe delighted both Henry and Carragher, who won the tournament with Barcelona and Liverpool, in 2009 and four years earlier in 2005 respectively.

A stern Richards finally cracked a smile while saying: “That’s cold that, Kate.”

Last week it was Abdo who was laughed at, with Carragher shocking the presenter after she was handed a Valentine’s Day gift from a scantily-clad colleague, who had a nipple showing

Having burst into laughter, Carragher hit back with: “It’s better his is out than yours!” to leave Richards bowing his head in disbelief.

Having been quiet, Henry poked fun at the nip-slip by saying: “I nearly lost my eyesight!”
