NASCAR debut for Malcom in the Middle’s Frankie Muniz was ‘most insane thing ever’

Former Malcom in the Middle star Frankie Muniz was on cloud nine after making his NASCAR racing debut at the Daytona International Speedway.

Competing for Rette Jones Racing in the ARCA Menards Series, which is a semi-professional league used as a feeder system for professional NASCAR, Muniz managed to put in a more than respectable shift in his debut drive.

Starting out in 16th, he finished up the 80-lap race in 11th place, a result that saw Muniz beat out 29 other drivers.

Clearly, the actor was delighted with his drive, with the 37-year-old calling it “the most insane thing” he had ever done.

Taking to Twitter, Muniz tweeted: “Holy moly!!! That was the most insane thing I’ve ever done. Got up into the top 3 before getting turned and causing damage. Went to the back and went from 24th to 11th in the final 2 laps. I’m so grateful to my team and @hairclub and sponsors for making my dream a reality.”

Frankie shot to fame as Malcom in Malcom in the Middle

Racing in NASCAR has been a dream for Muniz, who has had a long-held passion for motorsports, since his childhood.

However, the New Jersey born actor originally shot to fame in the earlier 2000s, playing Malcom in the hit US sitcom Malcom in the Middle, which saw him star alongside Breaking Bad’s Brian Cranston.

But while his acting career saw him nominated for Emmy’s and Golden Globes, the 37-year-old admitted earlier this year that part of his desire to chase his racing dream is due to his determination to show his son “that you can always chase your dreams.”
