Soccer AM hero the Geordie Dancer returns in viral video before Carabao Cup final

Soccer AM hero the ‘Geordie Dancer’ has made his triumphant return ahead of Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final with Manchester United later this month.

The ‘Geordie Dancer’, real name David Johnson, put Strictly Come Dancing to shame when he squared off with the ‘Mackem Mover’ in a dance-off on Soccer AM. And with fond memories from football’s answer to footloose, Magpies fans are happy to see him back.

David can be seen dusting off his old moves in a pub, in a video that went viral on TikTok. One fan joked: “He’s back? He’s never been away!”

“Holy s***… I’ve seen this video about ten times and it’s only just clicked who it is,” a second joked. While a third tweeted: “Give me unadulterated joyful expression over being cool every day of the week!”

“A true Soccer AM OG. Imagine life going full circle and Lovejoy interviewing Geordie Dancer on next week’s Sunday Brunch,” a fourth added.

The Geordie Dancer became a Soccer AM cult hero

Speaking shortly ahead of his dance-off, David compared football to dancing: “Dancing is like football – it’s all about what happens on the day, so I’ll need to put in a good performance!”

He’ll be hoping Newcastle will have their dancing shoes on at Wembley as they look to win their first major trophy since the 1955 FA Cup.

However, they’ll have to beat out a red-hot United side who will be led by Marcus Rashford, who is in the form of his life.
