Newcastle flop Nile Ranger tries to flog League Cup final tickets for £2k each

Newcastle United flop Nile Ranger has tried to flog tickets to the Carabao Cup final for £2,000 each on social media.

The forward spent five years with the Magpies after arriving as a teenager but has had his career disrupted by his off-field behaviour and was even jailed for online bank fraud in 2015. Ranger has now angered fans of his former club ahead of their appearance in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Ranger posted an advert for tickets to the match on his Instagram story, writing: “Tickets available Carabao Cup. SERIOUS ONLY.”

He also listed the prices as “Man United end £1150″ and “Newcastle end £2150”, before claiming they were “market prices”. However, his antics have not gone down well with Newcastle fans.

One reacted to Ranger selling the tickets by tweeting: “Areet @NilePowerRanger. NUFC gave you a chance – which you blew – in football. Why are you fleecing their fans? Is this a reason to boo? And how do you have so many tickets in the first place? You’d be there legitimately but you had more arrests than brain cells.”

Meanwhile, another fan revealed they had reported Ranger to Club Wembley, writing: “I wouldn’t ever normally do something like this but I have reported Nile Ranger directly to Club Wembley. It’s disgusting to see a former Newcastle United (player) with a history of online banking fraud trying to profit off the fans.”

Ranger later hit back at his critics and defended his actions in another Instagram story, stating: “You are worried about reselling tickets. Go help victims of Turkey and Syria.”

A former England youth international, Ranger joined Newcastle in 2008 at the age of 17 and went on to score three goals in 62 first-team appearances before departing in 2013.

He later had permanent spells with a host of clubs, including Blackpool and Southend United but has been a free agent since leaving non-league Boreham Wood last summer.
