Erik ten Hag makes bus parade decision as Man Utd prepare for Carabao Cup final

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly decided against having a trophy parade should they win the League Cup.

The Red Devils have a chance to claim their first piece of silverware in six years when they face Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday (February 26). But there’s no plans in place to hold a celebration back in Manchester if they emerge triumphant.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim Ten Hag has dismissed any suggestion of a parade next week. He’s said to be only willing to have one at the end of the season and if United win two or more trophies.

The Dutchman’s impressive transformation of the club since his arrival last summer sees them still fighting on all four fronts. Win or lose this weekend, their attention will turn to hosting West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round next Wednesday (March 1).

A massive victory over Barcelona at Old Trafford last night saw them progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Real Betis over two legs

And they’re also well in with a shout in the Premier League title race as league leaders Arsenal are just five points away, albeit with a game in hand.

A summer parade therefore isn’t out of the question. United’s last open-top bus tour came back in 2013, when they’d won the title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season before retirement.

Newcastle, meanwhile, will hold a parade next Tuesday if they beat United and end their 54-year wait for a trophy. Having already been knocked out of the FA Cup, they don’t have a fifth-round fixture to contend with.
