Woman who organised torture hit that killed ex-husband has home damaged in arson attack
Police are investigating an arson attack on the former home of a woman who conspired a plot to torture and kill her ex-husband.
A fire was started at Coleen Campbell’s former home in Clayton, east Manchester in the early hours of Thursday (February 23) morning following her sentencing to 13 years in prison fin relation to the death of Thomas Campbell.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and immediately put out the blaze.

No injuries were reported, with Greater Manchester Police confirming an investigation has been launched.
Coleen’s husband of 10 years, Thomas Campbell, 38, was brutally murdered in his own home in Mossley, Tameside, after being ambushed by three people, including his ex wife, in July of last year.

A senior detective called to the scene of Campbell’s murder revealed how it was “like something from a horror film” with Campbell forced to endure hours of torture.
When detectives arrived at the property they found blood covering the walls and Mr Campbell lying dead in the hallway wearing nothing but a pair of socks.
Detective Sergeant Paul Davies of Greater Manchester Police said of the crime: “I’ve been in the police for 20 years and I’ve never been to a scene like that ever before.”

Reece Steven, 29, is to serve a minimum of 37 years in prison after being found guilty of murder while John Belfield, 28, is wanted for the same crime but is on the run.
The identity of the third attacker involved in the horrific torture is a yet unknown and he is thought to be on the run.
A GMP spokesperson said: “Police were called just before 12.30am yesterday (Thursday 23 February 2023) to a report of a fire at a property on Bamford Street, Clayton, Manchester. Emergency services attended and the fire was safely extinguished. No one sustained any injuries.
“Enquiries are ongoing and officers are currently treating the fire as arson. No arrests have currently been made.”
