Gary Neville trolls Ant & Dec as the Newcastle fans suffer watching on at Wembley

Gary Neville couldn’t resist making fun of Ant & Dec after the Geordie pair were spotted in the crowd at Wembley during Sunday’s League Cup final.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! hosts, who are both die-hard Newcastle fans, were forced to sit through a crushing afternoon’s football as the Magpies were swept aside by Manchester United in what was the club’s first cup final appearance since 1999.

With a few minutes left on the clock the Sky Sports cameras panned to the sullen-looking duo, leading Neville, who was on co-commentary, to quip: “I’m a celebrity,” before colleague Jamie Carragher instantly added: “Get me out of here.”

Fans on social media were loving the jibe, with one user labelling Neville and Carragher’s antics “absolutely savage”.

“Gary Neville brutalising Ant & Dec when the cameras find them at Wembley, love it,” one supporter tweeted.

“Hahah absolutely savage that from Neville and Carra,” commented another, while a third joked: “Ant & Dec can’t wait to get out of here”.

The expressions on the faces of both TV stars summed up the afternoon for Newcastle, who, aside from a decent spell of possession in the second half, were well-beaten by Erik ten Hag’s side.

Casemiro opened the scoring after half-an-hour with a glancing header, before a Sven Botman own goal, forced by Marcus Rashford’s effort, gave the Red Devils a commanding lead before half time.

Eddie Howe’s men launched a half-hearted fight back after the interval, but barely troubled David De Gea between the sticks, much to the frustration of the tens of thousands of fervent Toon fans who made their way down to London.
