Jake Paul has enormous net worth three times more than boxing legend Mike Tyson

Jake Paul will add to his huge net worth when he takes on Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia this weekend, although he’s already worth three times more than boxing legend Mike Tyson.

Having traded barbs back and forth for years, Fury and Paul will now face off against each other in Diriyah this evening. They had been slated to fight twice before but for one reason or another, both those bouts were postponed.

Boxer Fury is of course the younger brother of two-time world heavyweight champions Tyson Fury, while Paul initially rose to fame through Vine, YouTube and starring on the Disney Channel.

From their, Paul has managed to parlay that initial fame into an impressive net worth, that dwarfs that of boxing icon Mike Tyson.

But just how has the 26-year-old managed to amass such wealth?

Well, his rise to fame thanks to Vine and YouTube gave him the perfect opportunity to build up his brand alongside his brother Logan Paul.

While his following on the two platforms led to him being cast in 2017 for the Disney Channel sitcom ‘Bizaardvark’, a number of high profiled controversies meant Paul was fired just months after he had been hired.

Jake Paul is undefeated so far in his boxing career

That year, he also launched his own digital marketing brand ‘Team 10’, whilst also releasing an array of music videos alongside his regular YouTube vlogs and skits which garnered millions of views.

And come the end of 2018, Forbes ranked Paul as the second highest paid YouTube star in the world, estimating him to have made a whopping $21.5m that year alone.

2018 also saw him begin the start of his fighting career too, with Paul appearing on the undercard against Deji, KSI’s brother who was fighting Logan Paul in the main event.

From there, Paul has fought in the ring five more times after beating Deji, winning all six of his boxing bouts. Come the start of last year, Forbes listed Paul 46th on their list of highest paid athletes, estimating he had earned $38m from his fights in 2021.

However, Paul has actually claimed Forbes’ estimations were wrong, claiming his 2021 earnings were actually higher. And when he faces off against Fury later tonight, he will be guaranteed to walk away with another $3.2m plus 65 per cent of the pay-per-view money according to Sports Zion.

That could see Paul earn a total of $8.6m for his fight in Saudi against Fury. Should he beat Fury, he will also receive a cruiserweight world ranking too from the World Boxing Council.

Having also launched a ‘micro-betting’ application last year too called ‘betr’, which enables fans “to bet on every moment of every live sporting event for the first time“, Paul also recently signed a multi-year deal with the Professional Fighters League.

That deal will see Paul fight in a new division known as Super Fight, whilst also promoting the PFL. With all that going on, it’s easy to see just why Paul’s net worth dwarfs that of Tyson, which is currently estimated to be worth around $10m.

Mike Tyson’s bankruptcy in 2004 hit his finances hard

Despite having earned over $300m across his illustrious fighting career, Tyson had to file for bankruptcy back in 2004 after finding himself in masses of debt. Speaking to ‘The Pivot‘ podcast back in 2022, the 56-year-old claimed he used to do “crazy s***” with his money.

Tyson said: “When you’re making that much money it lasts for a long time. That didn’t die right away, it took like 15 or 16 years to go broke.

“I’m throwing s*** like ‘hey baby, you like that car? Ok you come and spend the weekend with me’, just crazy s*** you can do with your money.”
