Conor Benn teases fight against Manny Pacquiao with Instagram hint

Conor Benn has teased the prospect of fighting one of the greatest boxers of all time in Manny Pacquiao, after dropping a huge hint to his followers on Instagram.

Benn has not featured in the boxing ring since testing positive for a banned substance ahead of his proposed grudge match with Chris Eubank Jr last October. Since then, the Englishman has denied any wrongdoing and has attempted to clear his name.

Late last month the WBC confirmed Benn would be reinstated to their rankings, after it was claimed a ‘highly-elevated consumption of eggs’ was a possible explanation for his drugs failure.

Despite this, he still remains under investigation from UK Anti-Doping as well as the British Boxing Board of Control, meaning Benn is still not licensed to box in the UK. In a bid to return to the ring though, the Englishman could look to fight elsewhere.

And it seems he is already looking to line-up a blockbuster opponent following his latest Instagram post. Uploading a clip of himself training in his gym to his 650,000 followers, Benn tagged Pacquiao in the post, along with a signed contract emoji.

Earlier that day, Benn was seen training on a treadmill on his Instagram story with a video of one of the Filipino star’s fights on a TV behind him. The post comes after it was confirmed that 44-year-old Pacquiao had returned to training after a long period away from the ring.

This comes after the Filipino recently ran to become his nation’s president, but failed in his attempts. Talk over a fight with Benn began last week, after his promoter Sean Gibbons uploaded a fight poster of both Pacquiao and Benn on Twitter.

The Englishman was quick to jump on the tweet, responding that he was ready for the fight at ‘anytime’. Seemingly keen to get the ball rolling, Gibbons called out Eddie Hearn to begin negotiations, responding: “Waiting on Eddie Hearn! Senator ready to Rumble!!”
