Soccer AM host insists ‘no decisions have been made’ over show being axed by Sky

Soccer AM host John Fendley contradicted reports claiming the beloved morning show is being cancelled by Sky Sports.

Football fans were left devastated when they heard the iconic morning show was set for the chopping block. Soccer AM has been on the air since 1995, but various reports were claiming it was being cast aside in place for the Sky Sports Saturday Social, a show which predominantly features YouTube personalities.

Staff involved in producing the show were described as “raging” when allegedly told the news about the show’s fate. However, there is new hope for fans of the show

Fendley, who co-hosts the show alongside former Wigan Athletic and Hull City star Jimmy Bullard, took to his social media to “clarify the situation”. “There’s been a lot of coverage in the past few days about Soccer AM so I wanted to clarify the situation,” Fendley tweeted.

“Sky has made a proposal about next season and we will go into a consultation process. “No decisions have been made at this stage and no one has been made redundant.”

Reports from the Sun initially stated the morning show was set for the chop. It even described Fenley and Bullard as being “fuming” with the decision that left “morale at an all-time low” among the SoccerAM team.

A spokesperson from Sky also said, “Soccer AM has played an important role in our coverage of football for the past three decades, and we continually adapt to the evolving needs of our customers.

“We now go into a period of consultation to discuss the proposed changes with our people. We are unable to provide more detail while these consultations are underway.”

There are only 10 episodes left of this year’s SoccerAM series.
