Arsenal team spirit shown by ‘classy’ Martin Odegaard act before Gabriel Jesus penalty

Martin Odegaard embodied Arsenal’s team spirit with a class act before Gabriel Jesus’ penalty in the Gunners’ 4-1 win against Leeds.

Jesus won the penalty in the 34th minute and slotted home to score his first goal since October after returning from injury last month. And the Brazilian was given the opportunity to take the penalty by Gunners captain Odegaard who handed Jesus the ball before the kick was taken.

The Whites’ players thought Odegaard was about to take the penalty as they crowded the spot. However, the Norwegian only threw himself into the mix to prevent mind games from affecting Jesus.

However, the decision to hand Jesus a penalty was shrouded by controversy as some fans claimed the Brazilian dived in the build-up. Jesus twisted Leeds ace Luke Ayling in and out with his dazzling dribbling, and in turn, the defender stuck his leg out, causing the forward to hurtle to the ground.

And although the ref awarded Jesus the penalty, some supporters believed he went down to easily, with one saying: “Gabriel Jesus what a cheat.” While another insisted that he should win the “diver of the season” award for his theatrics.
