Jurgen Klopp ‘celebrates’ Mohamed Salah penalty before realising Liverpool star missed

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has left football fans in hysterics after appearing to accidentally celebrate Mo Salah’s penalty miss against Arsenal.

The Gunners stormed into a 2-0 lead inside the first half-hour thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. Salah pulled a goal back before half-time and then had a golden opportunity to make it 2-2 from the penalty in the second half.

Just before the spot-kick, Klopp turned away. Then, when Salah put the penalty wide, the German briefly appeared to celebrate, thinking his striker has scored, only to realise it had not been converted and holding out his hands in disbelief.

Supporters found the moment hilarious, with one advising Klopp: “Try looking in the right direction then you won’t be confused.”

“His glasses have fallen off to be fair to him,” quipped another. A third said: “What was he looking at in the crowd that was more important? Very strange behaviour.”

A fourth commented: “When your mum calls you for dinner but it’s not ready yet.” Another asked: “Is that clown still doing that act and not watching pens?”

Liverpool did grab a point late on through substitute Roberto Firmino and then almost pinched all three points as Aaron Ramsdale produced two wonder saves in added time.

Mo Salah reacts after his missed penalty against Arsenal

Speaking after the match, Klopp said: “A bit typical for us this season. An open game, completely open, they score with the first situation and the second one. Our reaction was good. It was a spectacular game in the end. How we didn’t win it with those late chances I don’t know.

“I’m caught in between [being happy and not]. I have no problems with drawing. Arsenal were good but they could and should have lost this game. The point for them is better.”
