Kate Abdo’s brutal introduction for Micah Richards has Jamie Carragher in hysterics

Kate Abdo delivered another of her brutal introductions at the expense of Micah Richards to begin CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage.

Without fail, Abdo makes fun of Richards whenever they, along with Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry, join up to work for the American broadcaster on European nights. She had a zinger lined up for him this week ahead of Manchester City‘s 3-0 win against Bayern Munich.

Opening the show, Abdo said: “I’m Kate Abdo joined by Champions League winner with Barcelona Thierry Henry, Champions League winner with Liverpool Jamie Carragher, and the man who had a great view from the bench when Sergio Aguero won the Premier League for Manchester City – ‘Big Meeks’, Micah Richards.”

A stunned Micah tried to get one back on Abdo by referring to her stand-in Jules Breach as he asked: “Where’s Jules?” Before adding: “I made a lot of money sitting on that bench I’ll have you know anyway.”

Carragher then piped up: “Doing nothing?” Richards replied “yeah”, leaving his co-pundit with an open goal as he jibed: “Bit like you here.”

The studio burst into laughter with Richards exclaiming: “Really Jamie? Someone’s teed you up for that one.”

Fans regularly hail the CBS panel for their entertaining coverage of the Champions League and more praise was once again heaped on them last night (April 11).

One viewer tweeted: “The BEST punditry lineup.” Another wrote: “This is what I look forward to on Champions League nights.”

“This is Box Office,” commented a third, while a fourth told Abdo: “Kate you didn’t have to do that to Micah.”

“She’s back Micah gonna suffer today,” added a fifth, while a sixth joked: “Thank God she didn’t mention his Champions League appearances.”

They’ll be back again when Real Madrid take on Chelsea in the first leg of their quarter-final tonight.
