Ryan Reynolds’ new Wrexham neighbours invite Hollywood megastar for a pint

Ryan Reynolds’ soon-to-be neighbours have invited him and partner Blake Lively to the local pub for a pint.

Earlier this week it emerged that the Hollywood star was buying a £1.5m mansion in the sleepy village of Marford after settling in to life in the Welsh countryside following his and fellow actor Rob McElhenney’s 2021 purchase of National League side (but for how much longer?) Wrexham.

According to sources, Reynolds moving into the neighbourhood is all locals can talk about and a couple of them have offered to give the Canadian and his American wife a proper welcome.

Tracey Nevitt, who works at the village playgroup, Marford Little Explorers, told the BBC: “I think it’s very good for the town. It means a lot that he is choosing to stay in Wrexham.

“The people of Marford truly are the salt of the earth so I think Ryan chose well.”

Nevitt’s colleague Jessica Jenkins said she felt the same, adding that she hoped to see Ryan and Blake down the local boozer, The Red Lion, once they’re moved in.

As it turns out, the Wrexham owner won’t be the only celebrity living in the village, located close to the English border. Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, who was on Wrexham’s books back in the 90s, has a house there, as does Northern Irish snooker star Dennis Taylor.

Neither Reynolds nor Lively have confirmed news of the move yet, but once they do it sounds like they’ll be welcomed with open arms – especially if, as expected, the move coincides with Wrexham’s promotion to the Football League.
