World’s biggest gambler Mattress Mack promises giveaway hinging on Kentucky Derby
The world’s biggest gambler Mattress Mack has promised an almighty giveaway if the favourite at the Kentucky Derby wins.
His customers will certainly be jumping up and down on their brand new beds and furniture from the Mississippi gambler if Forte, the 5-2 favourite at the Derby, wins. However, while he will have to give away thousands of pieces of furniture from beds to coffee tables away, he will likely be leaping for joy as well.
Mack, whose real name is James Franklin McIngvale, will have likely placed an enormous, seven figure wager on the favourite to win as well. And he will be celebrating alongside many happy customers who will have plenty of new furniture in their homes.

Initially, some fans were very briefly worried as his announcement video began with him lying, motionless, on a bed with three roses lying on top of him. But he clicked into gear and laughed “No, I am not dead yet!
“But I am dead serious about getting your money back, during the fabulous Gallery Furniture run for the Roses of Kentucky Derby promotion.” Alongside his video he announced his jaw-dropping deal which would see his customers all refunded for their purchases.

While it is currently unknown what his bet is, it will likely be in the same range as his titanic wager last year. On that occasion, he lost a whopping $1.5m (£1.21m) in the Kentucky Derby after backing the 2022 favourite Epicenter.

If watching that seven figure sum of money disappear into the distance was not bad enough, he was beaten in the final furlong when 80/1 outsider Rich Strike pipped the 2022 Louisiana Derby winner to the post. Not that Mack would have quivered too much over that sum – he famously loves a high-stakes bet.
He first shot to fame when he won a then world record £65m after putting £8.5m on his beloved Houston Astros to win the Major League Baseball World Series in 2022.
