Nick Kyrgios’ terrified mum ‘carjacked at gunpoint’ before genius tennis star helped cops

Tennis maverick Nick Kyrgios helped police track down his stolen vehicle after his terrified mother was ‘carjacked at gunpoint’.

It is claimed Kyrgios’ elderly mum Norlaila opened the door of her Canberra home to a masked gunman. An Australian court heard Mrs Kyrgios was forced by the intruder to hand over the keys to her son’s Tesla – and was even told to show them how to drive it.

Prosecutors say Norlaila then dashed back into her home and alerted Nick and his manager Daniel Horsfall, who were nearby, for help. Kyrgios is then said to have used the Tesla app to limit his car’s speed to 50mph remotely. He also tracked its movements and relayed the details to the police.

Police were then involved in a chase with the alleged thief, who veered onto the wrong side of the road in a desperate bid to escape, it is claimed. The court heard police eventually blocked the assailant off just 35 minutes after the incident when the car entered a school zone.

A 32-year-old man was denied bail on Tuesday after appearing in the Australian Capital Territory Magistrates’ Court on five charges relating to the incident, including aggravated robbery, driving a stolen vehicle, furious driving and failing to stop for police.
