The King, the Heir and the Spare: Charles, William and Harry in royal spotlight

King Charles III, his heir the Prince of Wales, and his youngest son Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will all be in the public eye later today (May 6) as the Coronation takes place

Today’s (May 6) Coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey will thrust three people at the heart of the Royal Family into the spotlight — the King, the Heir and the Spare.

King Charles III‘s relationship with Princes William and Harry has been highly publicised but, following the Duke of Sussex’s decision to step back from royal duties, the trio reunited for the funerals of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth.

The three of them are now following their destiny amid the pomp and circumstance of the Coronation later today.

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards MBE commented on the King’s relationship with his sons, saying: “People say he was a cold father, but I never saw it. I always saw him having fun with them.”

Also central to the Coronation will be Camilla, Charles’ wife, who will be crowned Queen, as the nation celebrates the official crowning event in central London.

Also in attendance will be Prince William’s wife and the mum of his three children, Kate Middleton, although Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle is expected to remain at their home in California.

Street parties and numerous other celebrations, including big-screen showings at some churches, are expected to mark the big day in what will be a massive event.
