Prince Harry’s son’s ‘low-key’ birthday while cousins took centre stage at Coronation

Meghan Markle made sure son Prince Archie had a cracking birthday even if dad Harry was pulled back to the UK for King Charles’ Coronation.

As much of the world set its eyes on Westminster Abbey in London, little Archie had a celebration of his own at home in California, US.

Meghan collected fruit from her £11million mansion’s garden to rustle up a sweet treat for her eldest child who turned four on Saturday.

Doing his bit for the family, Prince Harry swiftly exited the Coronation for Heathrow Airport to make it home in time for his own slice of lemon cake.

A source told The Daily Mail: “He was always determined to get back in time to spend part of Archie’s birthday at home.”

The 38-year-old hopped on a 3.45pm flight, making it to sunny Los Angeles at 6.55pm.

With Harry allegedly: “Determined to be back in time to tuck Archie into bed,” he rushed back from the airport, driving 90 minutes on the highway, arriving home in the nick of time to see his boy during his celebratory day.

The youngster’s gran, Doria Ragland, is thought to have attended, as well as make-up legend Victoria Jackson.

A source told the Mail on Sunday that the ex-Suits star stayed home to celebrate Archie’s birthday “because she felt it would be inauthentic to do anything else” and wanted to “minimise the drama”.

The Duke of Sussex, wearing medals pinned to his jacket, could be seen chatting to Princess Beatrice, Prince Andrew’s daughter, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi as he entered Westminster Abbey.

He also nodded and smiled to guests as he walked down the nave of the historic building, although Harry and his uncle, the Duke of York, did not have any formal role.

Speaking about the historic occasion, historian Tessa Dunlop said Prince Harry looked “entirely at peace” as he watched his dad, telling the the Mirror: “This was a service like no other, one that has taken 1,000 years of time travel to perfect: no wonder the alchemy of ceremony, choreography, choral music, and supersonic capes worked its magic.

“There he was walking down the aisle, smiling at his cousins, every bit the prince – broad-shouldered, relaxed, even handsome, clearly enjoying the moment.

“The Duke of Sussex was born knowing one day he’d honour his father, the King, at a show-stopping Coronation, (and against expectations) Harry, smiling, looked entirely at peace with himself and the setting. Hallejulah!”
