Mattress Mack confronts Patrick Mahomes and tells NFL ace ‘you cost me millions’

Mattress Mack pointed at Patrick Mahomes and yelled “you cost me millions” after seeing him at the Kentucky Derby.

The furniture mogul, whose real name is James Franklin McIngvale, has become world famous for his outrageously high bets. As well as winning $75million (£60m) when he placed a $10m (£7.9m) bet on his beloved Houston Astros to win the World series, he has lost his fair share of seven figure sums.

The most famous loss he suffered may have been the $1m wager on the San Francisco 49ers winning the Super Bowl, but they blew a 20-10 lead in the final quarter to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs. And nearly three years since Mahomes and co produced the comeback, Mack was able to get his hands on the legendary quarterback.

Mack and the Texan crossed paths at the Kentucky Derby. The Chiefs ace was flanked by his wife Brittany when he came across Mack.

The 72-year-old stopped him in his track and reached out to grab the NFL stars hand. But shortly after Mahomes accepted his advance and shook his hand, Mack could be heard saying “you cost me millions betting against you.”

Mahomes laughed at the 72-year-old before saying “you got to be with me next time.” It was a very amusing encounter, considering the very high stakes that were lost by Mack.

Not that, the extremely heavy loss did anything to quench his love of high stakes gambling. The Astros’ victory in the 2022 World Series more than made up for his loss in 2020. However, he would have his hands, and his bank account, burned by the Super Bowl yet again in 2022.

He lumped $4.5m on the Cincinnati Bengals to overcome the Los Angeles Rams, but saw it all slip through his fingers after the Rams overturned a 20-16 deficit to clinch the title. Mack recently promoted a huge give-away at his store if the Kentucky Derby favourite, Forte, won the Run for the Roses.

Unfortunately, it did not come to fruition, as Forte had to pull out of the race after being deemed unfit to compete by veterinarians. 15-1 thoroughbred Mage went on to claim the victory and cause a huge upset.
