NBA fans roast Phoenix Suns owner for awful ‘flop’ after Nikola Jokic confrontation

NBA fans have roasted Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia for his comical flop after an altercation with Denver Nuggets All-Star Nikola Jokic.

In the Suns recent 129-124 play-off win over the Nuggets, tempers flared towards the end of the second quarter when Jokic, a two-time NBA MVP, tried to retrieve ball from Phoenix owner Ishbia on the sidelines of the Footprint Center.

However, Ishbia was not in the mood to just simply hand over the ball to the 6ft11in Serbian giant.

Jokic, who was given a technical foul for the altercation, then ripped the ball from Ishbia’s hands, before looking at the Suns owner with contempt and proceeding to elbow Ishbia in the chest.

Of course, a shove to the chest by Jokic could send anyone flying. However, the flailing arms of Ishbia, who simply could have handed Jokic back the ball, led some NBA fans to compare him to a player dramatically flopping to deceive a referee.

One NBA fan wrote on Twitter: “He totally flopped. What on earth was he doing trying to rip the ball out of Jokic hands anyway?”

Despite dropping a 53-point performance against the Suns, Jokic saw his side lose to Phoenix on the night, leaving their play-off series tied 2-2. While he has not been suspended, Jokic was fined $25,000 (£20,000) by the NBA for his shove on Ishbia.

And the two-time MVP has also drawn support from the likes of former NBA sharpshooter turned pundit JJ Redick, who called what Ishbia did “bull****”.

Redick said: “I thought it was bull**** what Ishbia did. I think it would be bull**** if any fan did that and I think that Jokic was not the instigator – give the f***ing players the ball, you’re not part of the game.”
