Laura Woods in demand as new TV channel want her to lead Premier League coverage
A change of name won’t be all that’s new for the soon-to-be former BT Sport next season amid reports the broadcaster wants Laura Woods to lead its Premier League coverage.
One of the major players in UK television will be eradicated from sets in July when BT rebrands as ‘TNT Sport’. The move has been made amid the upcoming merger with Eurosport owner Warner Bros. Discovery after the new joint venture was confirmed last autumn.
And the Daily Mail has reported showrunners want Woods front and centre of its Premier League programming when TNT launches this summer. The 35-year-old is part of the team leading talkSPORT’s morning breakfast show and was named Sports Presenter of the Year for her work in 2022.

Woods previously worked for BT rival Sky Sports for 13 years but left the broadcaster in 2022 to expand her portfolio of work. She’s impressed in front of camera for the likes of Amazon Prime Video, DAZN and ITV, starring at the 2022 World Cup for the latter in Qatar.
Far from being limited to football expertise, Woods has helped lead Sky Sports’ darts coverage in the past and also presented a weekly NFL show for ITV. The broadcast veteran is also a dab hand when it comes to boxing and has fronted DAZN’s content in the past.

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua even gave Woods her flowers following a triumphant return to the ring in April. She asked the Olympian what he thought of her career after beating Jermaine Franklin via unanimous decision last month, to which Joshua replied: “I think it’s blossomed amazingly. . .just like you.”
In the same interview, both Woods and Joshua admitted to being too focused on their respective careers to be in serious relationships. And many will believe the proof is in the pudding given the former now sits among the most respected sports broadcasters in Britain.
BT Sport mainstay Jake Humphrey confirmed on Friday he would be stepping down from the channel after 10 years. “It has been my dream job,” he wrote on Twitter. “I’ve loved being a very small part of a world class production team.”
That departure would appear to confirm TNT is heading in a new direction with at least one major vacancy now left empty. Woods formerly worked alongside the likes of Gary Neville as a pitch-side reporter during her long stay at Sky Sports, but it may not be long before she’s a direct adversary on Premier League weekends.
