Toby Carvery locked down as emergency services swarm over missing girl fears

A teenage girl is feared missing as a Toby Carvery has been locked down by emergency services who are on the hunt for her.

Fire engines, police cars and ambulances descended on a Toby Carvery that sits near the Carr Mill Dam in St Helen’s, Merseyside, after reports of concern came in this afternoon (June 1) for a missing teenage girl in the area.

Police have completely surrounded the dam, and have asked managers at the nearby restaurant to keep customers away, the Liverpool Echo reports.

One person at the scene, who was out enjoying the sun, told an Echo reporter that someone could be heard in the water of the dam.

“At around 12.30pm we received a report of a concern for the safety of a teenage girl at Carr Mill Dam on Garswood Old Road.

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said paramedics are in attendance assisting emergency service colleagues.

The Carr Mill Dam has been the site of several incidents over the past few years.

In 2015, fire services had to rescue a woman who became stuck in mud near the area, with the rescue taking more than an hour-and-a-half to complete.

Things got so bad in the area that in 2020, a charity was forced to step in and install several safety throw lines for people visiting the popular beauty spot.
