Tyson Fury ‘isn’t boxer’s real name’ – and he only changed it to sound ‘harder’

Tyson Fury’s real name is actually Luke and he only changed it to “make himself sound harder.”

That’s according to Dillian Whyte, who taunted the Gypsy King with his real name before his third fight with Deontay Wilder.

Fury produced a schooling across the three fights; winning two and drawing the other.

Now he will turn his attention to facing the likes of Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua, if negotiations can get over the line.

But White could well be his next opponent – and it could mean Fury’s real name is used to taunt him yet again.

Whyte told The Sun: “My real name is Dillian. I know his real name is Luke.

“He changed it to Tyson to make himself sound harder. People can have a little look around on the internet and see for themselves.

“In boxing, the name Tyson is a lot more sellable than Luke.”

Do you think Tyson Fury would be just as scary if he was known as Luke? Let us know in the comments section.

Despite Whyte’s claims, Fury’s first-name is indeed Tyson, as confirmed by his father John.

The 57-year-old has previously said: “He was just a pound in weight. The doctor said he probably won’t make it, he’s very weak.

“I said to all them doctors, he won’t be small, I said he’ll be nearly 7ft tall, 20 stone, the next heavyweight champion of the world.

“I thought, ‘There’s only one name fitting for him, he’s fought hard to become a person living in this world.’

“Mike Tyson was the best in the world at that time. Tyson Luke Fury – that’s his name.”

Fury’s next fight remains unknown, but it is expected to be a scrap with either Joshua or Usyk.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren told the Daily Star earlier in June: “Let me make one thing clear, Tyson Fury is the only heavyweight trying to make the fights now that fans want to see in the division.

“The Gypsy King wants to get it on now with Anthony Joshua and it is a shame his fellow Brit isn’t interested and would rather wait until December for a big fight.

“This is of course when Saudi Arabia opens up for boxing business due to their climate and it is expected that some huge offers to the likes of Tyson, AJ, Usyk and Wilder will be made.

“As of today, however, no offers are in and with that comes uncertainty.

The only certain thing right now is all Tyson wants to do is fight.

“He is prepared to risk the Saudi payday being lost by risking it all in the biggest fights available in the UK this summer.

“What he can’t control, and nor can I, is if the other guys are willing to step up this summer and take on the challenge.”
