Man City players’ families forced to ‘walk down the side of motorway’ after UCL

Manchester City’s and Inter Milan’s players’ families were forced to walk down the side of the motorway after leaving the Ataturk Olympic Stadium on Saturday evening.

Families had complained of the ‘dangerous’ exit from the stadium before they were forced to walk down the motorway to find taxis that would take them back to Istanbul. Journalist Miguel Delaney revealed one of the relatives had told him: “Families walked down the sides of motorways to find cabs.

“Our exit from the stadium was dangerous. Everyone filtering through one small exit. Then crumbling steps into the car park. No way this stadium should be hosting a Champions League final!”

Families weren’t the only ones affected by the traffic, with the stadium 17km away from Istanbul’s city centre. And many City fans took to social media to fume at the traffic.

“Just arrived… loads of traffic issues. Fans are having to get out of taxis and cars miles away from the stadium and walk,” one fan said. While a second tweeted: “Istanbul is an amazing city but an exceptionally poor choice to host an event like this given notoriously bad traffic!”

“I hope our fans get to the stadium in time. Traffic is horrific apparently,” a third tweeted. And another added: “Traffic has been absolutely insane around the stadium!”
