‘Sky Sports win transfer window’ with fans hyped for Peter Drury’s arrival

Premier League fans are beyond hyped for Peter Drury to take the reigns from Martin Tyler at Sky Sports next season.

Tyler announced he was stepping down as Sky Sports’ main commentator on Saturday, before Drury was announced as his replacement on Sunday. Drury said: “I’m massively excited to be joining Sky’s outstanding roster of commentators.

“To be working on the best games week in and week out with a broadcaster that has told the Premier League story since the very beginning feels like the opportunity of my career and I can’t wait to get started.”

And Premier League fans are joking Sky Sports have won the transfer window: “Sky Sports have just won the transfer window. What an upgrade that is.” And a second added: “Massive for sky and us as fans.”

“Sky’s viewing figures will see a stark rise. Peter Drury has an excellent voice. For me the best in the football commentary sphere. Excellent move by Sky,” a third said. While a fourth tweeted: “Sensational news. Peter is fantastic. Congratulations to him!”

“This is the best decision Sky Sports have made in many a year. Fantastic appointment. Peter Drury is exceptional,” a fifth said. And another added: “The best news of the season!!! The biggest transfer of the season.”

After announcing he was stepping down, Tyler said in a statement: “In my humble opinion, the huge corporation Sky is today has stemmed from Sky Sports’ innovative and inspired coverage of the Premier League. It has been a privilege to play a small part in the broadcasting history of the greatest league in the world.

“Along the way, I have worked alongside legions of wonderful professionals in all aspects of the television industry. I thank them all for their support and expertise. It has been an honour to be a member of a very gifted team.”
